Dodecal Challange #4: It's a certain holiday or birthday, and one of the Smallville characters is either happy or unhappy about it. Someone else makes them feel either better or worse.

Lex folded the morning paper as his father entered.

"Have you forgotten what day this is?"

Lex glanced at the front of the newspaper and read, "The eighth of May, 2005, Dad."

"Mother’s Day, Lex."

Lex's only response was to sip orange juice. Lionel tried again.

"Were you planning to drive up to the cemetery this afternoon?"

Lex didn’t meet his father's eyes. "Not this year."

"I thought if you were, perhaps I’d ride along."

"Why? You never have before. Take the limo.” Lex unfolded his newspaper onceagain.

“I may do that,” Lionel’s response was clipped. “Though I would think, on today of all days, that we might--

"You might want to swing by your own mother’s grave while you’re at it." And Lex hated asking his father questions, but he asked, anyway. "Where is my grandmother buried?"

"I don’t know," was Lionel’s response.
