Jonathan looked at his wife, home from the hospital at last, as she slept. Biting his lip, he covered her with a light blanket.

You didn't know?

No, Martha hadn't said a word.

The doctor said she could never have a baby.

He'd always tried his best to accept that. Clark was all the son any man needed.

There's no mistake.

Jonathan thought of a gold watch, and the several months spent in Lionel Luthor's employ.

Why would she keep it a secret?

Why would she? Unless...

There was a blinding light, and I felt a surge of energy go through my body.

Impossible. Or, was it?

However it happened, Martha, it's a miracle...In medical terms, it's nothing short of a miracle.

A miracle. Of course it was. And one for which Jonathan was grateful.

If he could only keep his suspicions at bay.
