"In Retrospect..."
"A Smallville character (or characters) is (are) looking back on a previous event in continuity (Something that happened in Season 1, Season 2: your choice.). Their understanding, or interpretation of the event, is illuminated in some way by things that have happened since. Show us!"

Two years later, the light bulb came on. And Clark groaned.
Nights alone, moping in the barn, hanging outside the manor, yearning for a glimpse of Lex through thick stone walls. He hadn’t even realized that he loved Lex, then, but already knew he hated sharing him, and kept making lame excuses to drop by. Deliver tulips, help Lex look for his watch, talk about Amy, Victoria...all the while sure his disappointment must be burning on his face like a brand.
He'd been lonely. So jealous of Victoria. So relieved when she'd left for good.
He'd been such a kid.
"Why do you want to keep her around?"
"It's complicated, Clark."
Lex. Too nice to laugh in Clark's face, but Clark's question must have astounded him. Lex kept Victoria around for one thing. Wasn't it obvious?
Sex.
And, thanks to Lex, Clark finally understood.
