Why did you do it?”
Lex turned around with a faint smile.
“I did it for you, Clark. We’re friends. I want you to have whatever you want, whatever it is. When you don’t, or won’t, go for it yourself, I try to ease the passage for you.”
Clark shook his head in irritation. “I told you I don’t believe that. Anyway, Lana’s pissed as hell at me, so your good intentions weren’t good for much.”
“I’ll have to make it up to you, then,” Lex said in a voice of silk.
“You can’t.”
“I can try. Whatever you want, your pick. A blow, a fuck…"
Clark thought a moment, his face darkening into a frown. Lex waited.
“You can start with…one of each,” said Clark in a throaty whisper.
“As you wish.” Lex smiled, reaching for Clark’s zipper and drawing him in close.

“Why did you do it?”
Lex turned about, gazed at Clark for a long moment before his lips curved into a smile. “You want the truth?”
Clark didn’t dignify the question with an answer. He gazed sternly down at Lex and waited. If Lex thought he was going to worm his way out of this one…
Lex moved closer, and Clark could feel his breath as his voice lowered to a velvet hum.
“I’m sick of her. The way she’s been bouncing from one guy to another since you dumped her and flaunting them in your face. She’s a self-absorbed, self-centered, whining twat. I wanted to hurt her the way she’s hurt you.”
“Because I owe it to you, Clark. Good friends aren’t easy to come by.”
Clark stared, shamefaced. “Lex, I don’t know what to say.”
“Don’t say anything. Just come to bed.”
